Swedish body massage is the original massage technique involving a sequence of effleurage & petrissage movements, working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers.
Areas massaged in a full body massage are normally; back, neck, shoulders, legs, arms and abdomen (optional).
Massage may help:
-
• Improve & maintain general health
-
• Reduce localised pain, particularly in joints and muscles
-
• Overall relaxation, which helps the body to function effectively by removing stress, tension & anxiety, all of which put extra strain on the systems
-
• Increase energy by reducing fatigue & strain
-
• Energise or soothe depending on movements used and an individual’s requirements
-
• Encourage deep relaxation & an awareness of tension build-up
-
• Balance the digestive system
-
• Relieve insomnia
-
• Enable deeper, more effective respiration
